On behalf of the 4th and 5th Year students who travelled to Tanzania this October, I would like to express my deepest thanks and admiration for the incredible experience you made possible through the Teretta Foundation.

Over the eight months leading up to our trip, we fundraised at school events, outside the Aviva Stadium, and in local shopping centres, knowing that our efforts would contribute to something meaningful. Those funds helped build a third classroom at the Teretta Foundation, but nothing could have prepared us for the impact of seeing, first-hand, how thoughtfully and effectively your work supports at-risk children in the Kilimanjaro region. While in Tanzania, we witnessed exactly where our donations were going. Another deeply moving moment was seeing the custom wheelchair we helped fund, a powerful reminder of how life-changing even one act of kindness can be.

The most rewarding part of our trip, without question, was spending time at the Teretta school itself. From the moment we arrived, we were met with overwhelming excitement and joy. Every child we met was incredibly kind-hearted, grateful, and full of life. Those moments will stay with us forever.

Throughout the trip, you also taught us to look beyond ourselves and see the bigger picture. By sharing your story and the purpose behind the Teretta Foundation, you reminded us how precious life is and how much impact compassion, education, and community can have. You helped our lads understand that even small actions, when done with intention, can change lives.

The balance of the emotional intensity of the trip with exploring Tanzania and learning more about its culture and landscape was perfect. These experiences were unforgettable, but nothing compared to our trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. It was an extraordinary challenge and a fitting way to end an already life-changing journey.

This experience has given us a new appreciation for the opportunities and comforts we are so lucky to have. I know lots of the lads hope to return to Tanzania in the future to continue supporting the Teretta Foundation and the incredible work you have started if you’ll have us 😊

Your compassion, dedication, and vision are making an enormous difference in the lives of children and families in the Kilimanjaro region. I am truly in awe of what you and Teddy have built. As a history teacher, I am very aware that so much of what we teach and learn is centred on men, their decisions, their achievements, and their stories. It was incredibly meaningful for me to be able to show my students a different kind of history in the making. Through you, they witnessed the power, leadership, and compassion of a woman who is creating real and lasting change. You are not only transforming lives through the Teretta Foundation, but actively shaping history in the Kilimanjaro region, and it was a privilege for all of us to see that firsthand.

This retreat was so well planned and every detail thought of by Lenore and Teddy, that all I had to do was show up and be open to be amazed !

I came on the retreat knowing no one,

but after a day it felt like I had set off with a bunch of friends.

Tanzania – her people and landscape made such an impression on me.And Kilimanjaro really is the beating heart of the world, spending time on the mountain with people and guides was so special and something I will never forget .

Tercera Foundation was in its infancy in June 2024 , when I went on retreat. And look at it now!! A warm and vibrant home for so many children, built with love and care and attention to detail . It is Testament to the love, care and attention that they will provide you with on the retreat- don’t hesitate , book today and you won’t regret it . Absolutely loved my Kilimanjaro trek! Amazing and challenging, as a solo traveler I felt well taken care of and safe. So nice to meet some great people.

I was lucky enough to make two trips to Tanzania, climbing both Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route and Meru the following year. During both trips my expectations were exceeded by the people of Tanzania and I still speak with my guides today. Zanzibar is also a dream destination that I can’t wait to return to. Book a trip and you won’t be disappointed.

In August 2025 I was part of a group that reached the top of Kilimajaro mountian. Lenore and her team created the most spectacular experience for the group. The logistics,medical care, food and overall experience were on point.

From a personal perspective, I had doubts about my ability having never done anything like this previously. These doubts were quickly dismissed through the care and attention of Lenore and her team of guides and porters. I would highly recommend Teretta and Nuri escapes to anyone wishing to experience Kilimajaro and the wider community.

Our family had a memorable and most enjoyable trip to Tanzania in October 2025 which was made so easy with the care and support provided by the team of Nuru Escapes. We were “minded” from the time we arrived at the airport to the time we left. The team at Nuru Escapes were always organised, always professional and always making sure we felt comfortable, supported and welcome, giving us plenty of time to take in the whole experience.

The primary purpose of our visit was to see the incredible work being done by the Teretta Foundation and thanks to Lenore and Teddy, we were able to experience it in a very meaningful way. Their passion for the work they do and their respect for everyone who works for/with them, shone through everyday.

A highlight of our trip was our visits to the Teretta Foundation to meet all the wonderful children there. Looking back on photos/videos from February 2025 when they joined Teretta, it is very obvious how much they have improved in every way which is a real credit to Lenore, Teddy, Matron and all the staff.

Our itinerary included trips to Serval Wildlife Park, Materuni Waterfall, Maasai Boma, Chemka Hot Springs, Coffee plantation, visiting the families in the local community – all wonderful experiences and handled so well by the guides. Special mention to Rebman who was our driver and guide for the week, he always went above and beyond to ensure we were safe and comfortable.

We left Tanzania inspired by the work of Teretta Foundation and full of gratitude for Lenore and Teddy and all the Teretta and Nuru Escapes teams. We are all aware from TV and social media of the poverty in Africa but when you see it first hand, it hits home on a different level. The people there are so happy with so little, despite the hardships they face every day.

We also spent a beautiful few days in Zanzibar where our guides were Abdi and Anwar – again everything was looked after for us.

By joining these trips, not only will you be supporting Teretta Foundation but also the local communities who have next to nothing. If you are thinking about it and are a bit hesitant, don’t be, just book it, it will be a trip of a lifetime and maybe the start of something wonderful in your life. You will not regret it.

I climbed Kilimanjaro with Nuru Escapes in August 25 and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. From start to finish everything was thought of and organised for us. The care and attention to detail was second to none. They truly created amazing experiences that will stay with me forever. In February we were given the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel out to Tanzania. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and cared for so well by Lenore, Teddy and the team. Any issues we had, they resolved immediately and made being away from home so easy. Lenore and Teddy created an itinerary that showed us the beauty of Tanzania while also opening our eyes to the harsh reality of life in a developing country.

We were on one of the volunteer trip so we spent time with the children at the Teretta school. Hearing stories from some children’s pasts and seeing how happy they were with so little opened our eyes to just how privileged we really are. We were overwhelmed with the kindness, love and warmth that the locals showed towards us.

We also spent two nights on Kilimanjaro where the guides looked after us all with such care, kindness and patience.

This trip has changed our perspective and opened our eyes to just how unequal and unfair the world really is. Tanzania and Teretta will always have a special place in our hearts and hopefully one day we will be lucky enough to return. We recommend this trip to absolutely anyone.

Went on a 10 day hike of Mt. Kilimanjaro and everything was perfect. It was not an easy task but the tour guides made it extremely enjoyable and doable. They really care about their group and want every person to successfully and safely summit. I would do it all over again the same way!
